The Protein Works. Literally.

In #Superfoods, Nutrition by Polina

So why does the protein work? Protein is an essential nutrient that makes you feel full and develop muscle (which gives us foxes our curves and definition)

Getting enough protein is quite hard to do, especially if you’ve been brainwashed into thinking as little as possible is the best way to lose weight.

Ideally, we’d get all the protein we’d need from nutritious, balanced meals but being realistic – the likelihood is we need to add an easy source for our 24hr, on the go lifestyles.

And this is where protein supplements come in and the brand I recommend is The Protein Works.

I have not signed up for an affiliate scheme with them and am not getting paid to advertise, there are many protein brands on the market, I like that they are local, quality and customer orientated, just would like to find out more about production process.

Like many brands they offer friends & family referral scheme, new people joining get freebies, the referees get points.

My code is 1101339 – use when registering to get the friends’ goodies – choose between 210g of the TPW award-winning Whey Protein 360 or 5 Whey Protein 360 i-Shakes (look out for a pop-up window at the checkout)

ALSO LOOK OUT FOR EXTRA DISCOUNTS – often TPW have great DISCOUNT CODES next to each product in the shop, make sure to apply!😀

I recommend the DIET WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE 90, however there are plenty of options – main criteria: low sugar, low carbs (unless you are bulking up), decent protein content. The rest is up to your pocket 🙂 Some formulas are more expensive, some have more flavours, some can get on a flash sale 🙂

As tempting as it may be, I do not recommend Meal Replacement – getting used to drinking 3 shakes a day instead of balanced meals isn’t the best idea.

The top flavours, as tested out by my clients, are Choc Mint Chip and Apple Cinnamon, although I quite like Caramel Macchiato!

Remember that protein powder is a supplement, not a meal replacement! Mixing a scoop of protein with water or adding into your shake or yogurt is an easy way to boost your protein intake, especially in the morning and post-workout.

Blend it with a nut butter, add oats, a handful of berries and it makes a great, quick on-the-go breakfast.
