Ten Simple Tips That Will Transform Your Health & Fitness (4/10)
Carrying on from the sleep theme in our last post, here are a few quick tips on maximising sleep quality.
If you find it hard to fall asleep, stick your feet out from under the duvet. This exposes a load of blood vessels to cooler air, lowering your body temperature and helping you drift off.
Just watch out for monsters under the bed…
This old wives tale is SO related to this that I’ve bundled them together – have a warm bath or shower before bed too. This works because as soon as we get out our body temperatures cool, which again, leads us to feel sleepy.
The final tip for help getting to sleep, especially useful if you’re struggling to actually fall asleep, is to distract yourself. Rather than lie in bed thinking and stressing over not being asleep, think of vegetables in reverse alphabetical order. Don’t get concerned if you get stuck, skip to the next. Tiring your mind out tricks it into falling asleep.
